Agility Recreational Class

Description: Also called Fun-For-All! This class will have a different Starters course set up each week. We will look closely at 1 skill within the course but the focus is running a course and having FUN!

Level 1 Agility

Instructor: Jen Quiring
Description: In this class, students and dogs will learn foundations for agility. Basic handling moves such as front, blind and lap crosses will be introduced. The dogs will be learning how to safely maneuver over jumps, a tire jump and go through tunnels while being guided by their handler. Warm ups, start lines, stopped contact behavior and more will also be introduced.
Pre-requisites: dogs should be a minimum 10 months old (exceptions may be allowed on consultation with instructor). To be enrolled in the class, your dogs should have basic commands such as a recall, stay, sit/down (puppy and basic obedience classes are an asset). Please share any formal training with the instructor. *Please also let instructors know within the registration form if your dog has any food allergies and sensitivities towards humans or other dogs.

Level 2 - Agility Skill Building

Description: This Agility class is the next step for dogs and handlers that have completed CK9C Agility Skill Building level 1 (formerly called Pre-Agility) or teams with equivalent skills. This course will focus on building dog and handler agility foundations. We will focus on a balance between obstacle discrimination and commitment, handler focus, basic handling, one jump exercises, grid work and more. We will also be working with dogs and handlers on basic proofing and impulse control to help set each team up for success in more advance agility. This level is not for beginners but we welcome all teams that have taken a pre or level one agility class.
Pre-requisite: Pre-Agility / Agility Skill Building Level 1 - If you have taken Level 1 elsewhere, permission of instructor is required. Dogs should be comfortable with jumps, tunnels, and short sequences. Handlers should have basic handling skills experience. *Please also let instructors know within the registration form if your dog has any food allergies and sensitivities towards humans or other dogs.

Description: This course will focus on adding some of the more advanced skills to your toolbox so that you can handle for your dogs smoothest and fastest lines. We will be breaking things down and focusing on reading our dog’s lines and approaches to obstacles, where we should be cueing extension vs collection and other handling techniques to support our dogs. This may include treadles (slices vs. wraps), obstacle discrimination, modern handling techniques, layering, and more.
Prerequisite: Level 3 or Skills, Drills & Proofing.
