PLEASE READ THE INFORMATION BELOW AS IT IS IMPORTANT FOR YOU TO KNOW IN ADVANCE:
The money raised will go towards purchasing some new training equipment for the club.
LOCATION: Dick Hart Memorial Park is located just off Highway 5 (Yellowhead) on the road to Sun Peaks. From Kamloops, take the turnoff to Jasper (Hwy 5). Travel north for about 15 minutes. Take the turnoff (right) to Sun Peaks and follow the signs to Sun Peaks. Dick Hart Park is about 3-4 kms past the Heffley Store. Watch for a wood sign on your right. Turn right and drive down into the ballpark.
Google Map Link: https://maps.app.goo.gl/wPuNUZx5rqLLtaUc9
This is a secluded ball park with porta-potties and outhouses that can be used.
We do not have internet access, and we have sketchy cell service.
There is NO DRINKING WATER on site and NO CONCESSION so please bring plenty of water, food, and cooling items for both you and your dog(s). We will have cooling pools set up, for dogs only, in the fenced play area. The Heffley Store is 3 kms away and has a liquor store and some food items. The nearest restaurants and supermarkets are about 20 minutes away.
Competitor's Dogs Only
ONLY COMPETITOR DOGS WILL BE ALLOWED ON SITE.
Your family and friends are welcome to visit and spectate, but please ask them to leave their dogs at home.
Ribbons:
There will be self-service ribbons for 1st to 4th placings and qualifiers in each jump height category. They will be placed near the results binders. If you have earned a title at the trial, there will be a process in place to notify the person in charge of the ribbons. Please talk to the Trial Chair or Trial Secretary if you have any questions.
Bring a chair for yourself and a crate or x-pen for your dog. You can set up a shade tent in the designated area or, if you choose, you can crate your dog at your vehicle. Please bring something to shade your dog. We are expecting the weather to be HOT, but please prepare for any possible conditions.
You will not be permitted in the crating area until the trial set up is completed, UNLESS you are helping with setup.
IMPORTANT VOLUNTEER UPDATE, PLEASE READ
All participants are expected to volunteer for 2 events per day. We cannot run this event unless everyone pitches in. We will be sending out a sign-up form to all participants along with your confirmations. You will need to sign up to complete your registration in the trial. There is something for everyone, and we really do need everyone’s help. It takes a village to help a trial run smoothly. We will confirm what you sign up for once registration is complete. Please keep track and show up for your assignments. Thank you
Dogs must be on leash when not competing or in the off-leash area.
SHADE TENT PEGS MUST BE NO LONGER THAN 6” TO AVOID DAMAGE TO UNDERGROUND SPRINKLER SYSTEM
NOTE: at a previous trial some pegs were left in the grass, this is very dangerous in a ball field. Please double check when you pack up that you have all your pegs.
There is a fenced playground for off-leash dog play. However, little dogs and stealthy agility dogs can get through the fence, so please be watchful. As usual, all poops must be scooped everywhere on site and especially in the children’s playground (so bring baggies!).
We do not allow any choke/shock/pinch collars at any Cactus K9 Club events. Please respect our rules. As well, there will be zero tolerance of verbal and/or physical abuse towards any dog, volunteer, or judge (as per AAC rules). If anyone witnesses any such abuse, let us know.
As per AAC Rules (2.10.02 General Faults), dogs are now allowed to wear collars in the ring, but only collars with no dangling attachments.
PARKING: If you require any special parking privileges, please contact the Trial Secretary at [email protected] to ensure you receive the parking you require.
CAMPERS: There is plenty of space for dry camping so please spread it out. We must take all garbage out of the park before the end of the trial, so only throw poop and kitchen garbage – NO BROKEN CHAIRS OR SHADE TENTS.
NO VISITING CAMPERS WILL BE ALLOWED WITHOUT PRE-REGISTRATION
Garbage will be removed at NOON on Sunday, so you are asked to take any garbage after that with you.
We will be on site Friday by noon. You can arrive any time AFTER that to grab your camping spot, however, only site builders will be permitted on the field until the rings are set. You can set up your shade tent in the designated area AFTER the field build is completed. We will let you know when we are done.
*CAMPFIRES*
We will follow Provincial regulations. Campfires will likely not be permitted during the trial due to dry conditions.
We will have 5x7 hard copies of the course maps. 8X10 copies of all courses will also be posted on the fence.
